This was a 15mm ACW (Johnny Reb) scenario run by Dean West at Johnny Con 4.5 (at Bayou Wars) in New Orleans this summer. Dean is a master at designing and laying out scenarios, and I wanted to share a few of his pictures. Dean uses his own flocked mat, which perfectly simulates the natural colors of the landscape, and does a fantastic job of creating realistic rolling hills. What do you think? Please feel free to leave comments!
Here’s a link to some information on the historical battle:
Dean uses his own variant of John Hill’s “Johny Reb 2”, which he calls “Billy Yank”. It provides an excellent, tactical ACW game!

Dean uses 10mm buildings and terrain with his 15mm figures for a better visual “look” and more accurate representation of ground scale.

The Humphrey house – I like Dean’s use of signs to indicate important landmarks. He also uses this as a way to teach players and the public about the historical battle. (picture by Patrick Lebeau)
Thanks for sharing Dean! This game was a Federal victory at the convention. I’m twisting Dean’s arm about running this scenario again at Nashcon next year! Maybe Forrest’s men will have better luck then. Good gaming – Cory

For 6mm figures, what scale buildings would you recommend using?
