I’m a self-proclaimed decent figure painter and scenery maker, but I don’t have any architectural skills for making model buildings!  Chris and I have talked about doing a “Dead Man’s Hand” Western game and I wanted to try my hand at making a building that would work for the Old West and the American Civil War as 25mm wargame scenery. My goal was to make something “ramshackle” that would be a good project for a beginner and not have to look too polished as a finished project. Here are some pictures of how my project went and the steps I followed to make the barn. It’s quite an easy project, that anybody could make. If you have any questions, please leave a comment and I’ll do my best to answer it. Good gaming – Cory

I cut the basic frame from balsa wood and then added strips of craft sticks. The door was was made by scoring balsa wood.

I cut the paneling strips in an irregular fashion to give the appearance of a rustic barn. This picture also shows the scale of the barn in relationship to a Dixon 25mm ACW figure.

A similar picture showing the exterior and interior of the barn. I made the door so that it could be opened and closed.

A small ACW farm scene.

I primed the barn black and dry-brushed on a few colors. This will make a great hide out for our Dead Man’s Hand games!
