We are really excited about Sam’s new Napoleonic game! He has been doing some great podcasts on “Blucher” that have whipped us into a Nappy frenzy! We are especially looking forward to playing the game with the “Scharnhorst” campaign system and the “100 Days Campaign” card pack supplement. This really looks a well designed, fun game, that will bring some tactical decisions to the table-top that will be influenced by the campaign situation surrounding each battle.

Another aspect of the game that really appeals to me is that it can be played as a standard miniatures game, with just cards, or with a combination of cards and minis. It looks like my 1809 French and Austrians will be hitting the table-top gain soon! As Sam suggests in his podcasts, I’ll use the cards for units that haven’t been spotted yet, and then reveal them when “seen” and convert them into miniatures units.

I’m also really keen on the fact that I can just play the game as a card game on one of my CBB terrain mats! It essentially looks and functions like a super-sized board game! I can pack my terrain mat, rule book and cards into my backpack and head down to the local gaming club, and have a fantastic looking  game set up in just a couple minutes! It will also let me dabble relatively inexpensively in the Waterloo campaign. since I’m not planning on painting any 28mm 1815 French and British any time soon!

These cards look great on our mats! I  just added a few old Geo-Hex hills under the mats, and then put out some cards to get a feel for the look of the game. I think it looks great!

Many of the forward units have been spotted and “revealed”, so they are turned over. Units that haven’t been spotted remain hidden and create a nice fog of war.

The “Europe 15mm” mat works well with the cards and creates a nice look with the fields, small woods, roads and a stream.

An example of one of the unit cards. Excellent artwork and high quality printed cards!

An objective marker between the armies. The battle is about to heat up!

We have a few other mats on our webstore that would work great with “Blucher”. Check them out! Link

Head on over to Sam’s “Honour” website to check out Blucher and his other games! Link

And yes….we are in the planning stages of doing some specific terrain mats of some “famous battles” suitable for use with “Blucher”! Stay tuned to our website for news!

Thanks and Good Gaming! Cory @CBB
