Our featured mat of the week is our desert mat. It is extremely versatile and we use this currently for our 28mm “Old West” skirmish games. We are also painting forces for WWII North Africa 28mm Bolt Action at the moment and it looks like perfect terrain for the both Desert Fox and the Desert Rats to fight over! Some of our friends use the mat for the Sudan, Mexico, Ancients, Modern, etc. This is one of our best-selling mats due to its versatility! What could you do with it? Here are some of our pictures:

Show down at high noon!
All of the buildings are from Chris’ collection and the figures are from Cory’s collection. Team work makes the dream work!
A great overview of the desert mat and how versatile it is. This is the desert mat without roads (mat #120). We also offer versions with 15mm roads and 25mm roads ( mat #103).

We enjoy playing with Dead Man’s Hand, Dixon’s Old West rules and TSR’s Boothill.

This is the desert mat with 15mm roads (approx. 1.5 inches wide). This is mat #103 on our webstore and you will need to select which road size you prefer. This works well for Flames of War, Ancients, Colonials, etc.
The Desert mat with 15mm roads with 25mm figures. At this scale the “roads” become “trails”!
Chris (l) and Cory (r) from Cigar Box Battle hold up the desert mat with 15mm roads (#103). The 25mm roads are approximately 3-4 inches wide…perfect for your 25mm tanks, chariots and cavalry units!
These mats will work fine “as is”, meaning just throw them over a table and start gaming. They really are amazing however when you add a little of your own 3D terrain, like palm trees, hills, buildings, an oasis, etc. They travel light and allow any gamer to set up a good-looking game very quickly!
